Warranty Policy
Copy Cat Industries (CCI) — Premium LED headlights and taillights. Australian owned and operated · ABN 57 180 914 580 · copycatsindustries1@gmail.com
Last updated: 9 September 2026
Overview
Every CCI headlight, taillight, and bundle comes with a full 12-month manufacturer warranty. If a product fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship within the warranty period, we will refund it. This policy explains what is covered, what is not, who is eligible, and how to make a claim.
Under this voluntary manufacturer warranty, our standard remedy is a refund. This warranty applies in addition to — and does not limit — your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), including your right to choose a refund or a replacement for a major failure. See Your Rights Under the Australian Consumer Law below.
Definitions
The following terms have the meanings set out below wherever they are used in this policy, whether or not they appear capitalised. These definitions are part of the policy and govern how it is interpreted.
- CCI, we, us, our — Copy Cat Industries (ABN 57 180 914 580), the seller of the Product.
- You, your, the customer — the person or entity that purchased the Product directly from copycatind.com and in whose name the order was placed.
- Product — any headlight, taillight, bundle, or kit manufactured or supplied by CCI and purchased directly from copycatind.com. "Product" includes all components supplied with it (lenses, housings, projector units, wiring harness, connectors, and fittings).
- Bundle — two or more Products sold together as a single listed item.
- Kit — a Product supplied with the wiring harness, connectors, and fittings needed for installation.
- Warranty — the limited manufacturer warranty described in this policy, and nothing else. It is separate from, and additional to, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
- Warranty Period — the period of twelve (12) consecutive calendar months beginning on, and including, the Date of Delivery, and ending at 11:59pm (Australian Eastern Time) on the same date twelve months later. A claim is only valid if the fault is reported to us within the Warranty Period.
- Date of Delivery — the date on which the order is first recorded as delivered by the carrier to the address supplied at checkout (or, where the order is collected, the date of collection). This date, not the Date of Purchase, starts the Warranty Period.
- Date of Purchase — the date the order was placed and paid for, as shown on the Order Confirmation Email.
- Business Day — a day other than a Saturday, Sunday, or national public holiday in Australia.
- Order Confirmation Email — the automated email sent by CCI to the email address supplied at checkout confirming the order. This serves as your Proof of Purchase.
- Proof of Purchase — the Order Confirmation Email, or other evidence acceptable to CCI (such as the order number, or the name and email address used at checkout) that establishes that you purchased the Product directly from CCI.
- Manufacturing Defect — a fault in the Product that was present at the time of manufacture and is caused by faulty Materials or faulty Workmanship, and that is not caused by any external factor such as installation, use, accident, wear, water ingress, or modification. Only a Manufacturing Defect is covered by this Warranty.
- Materials — the physical components and substances CCI used to make the Product.
- Workmanship — the manufacturing and assembly of the Product by or for CCI.
- Defect — a Manufacturing Defect. A Defect is distinct from Damage.
- Damage — any deterioration, breakage, fault, or loss of function that arises after manufacture from an external cause, including (without limitation) Physical Damage, Incorrect Installation, Water Ingress, Modification, or Normal Wear. Damage is not covered by this Warranty.
- Fault — any failure of the Product to function as intended. A Fault is only covered where it is caused by a Manufacturing Defect.
- LED Failure — the complete failure of one or more LED elements within the Product to illuminate, where that failure is caused by a Manufacturing Defect and not by an external cause.
- Significant Loss of Brightness — a clearly visible and sustained reduction in light output of an LED element, occurring within the Warranty Period and caused by a Manufacturing Defect, that is not attributable to normal ageing, heat, voltage supplied by the vehicle, dirt, lens wear, or external damage.
- Wiring Harness — the loom, connectors, and wiring supplied by CCI as part of the Kit. Cover extends only to the Wiring Harness supplied in the Kit, and not to any of the vehicle's own wiring or any third-party wiring.
- DRL — the daytime running light function of the Product.
- Sequential Function — the animated or sequential operation of the indicator or DRL, where the Product is designed to provide it.
- Licensed Auto Electrician — an auto electrician who, at the time of installation, holds a current, valid licence or equivalent trade qualification to perform automotive electrical work in their jurisdiction. Installation by the customer, an unlicensed person, or a general mechanic who is not a Licensed Auto Electrician does not satisfy this requirement.
- Proof of Licensed Installation — documentary evidence (such as a dated tax invoice or installation record on the installer's letterhead) that identifies the Licensed Auto Electrician, their licence or qualification, and the Product they installed. It must be supplied with any Claim.
- Claim — a request by you for a remedy under this Warranty, submitted in the manner set out in "How to Make a Claim" and including all required information and evidence.
- Approved Claim — a Claim that CCI has assessed and accepted as a valid Manufacturing Defect within the Warranty Period, meeting all eligibility conditions of this policy.
- Refund — the return to you of the purchase price actually paid for the affected Product, as shown on your Proof of Purchase. A Refund is CCI's standard remedy under this voluntary Warranty; it does not limit any remedy you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law, including a replacement for a major failure. Except to the extent required by the Australian Consumer Law, a Refund does not include original or return shipping, installation or removal costs, or any other cost, loss, or expense.
- Physical Damage — any damage caused by accident, impact, dropping, crushing, abrasion, misuse, or any external force after the Product left CCI's control.
- Incorrect Installation — any installation that is not performed by a Licensed Auto Electrician, or that does not follow the supplied fitting guide, or that applies incorrect voltage, wiring, or fitment.
- Water Ingress — the entry of water into the sealed housing of the Product, evidenced by droplets running down the inside of the lens, pooling, or standing water inside the housing. Water Ingress is distinct from Condensation.
- Submersion — the placing or holding of the Product underwater.
- Temporary Immersion — immersion in water no deeper than 1 metre for no longer than 30 minutes, being the limit of the Product's IP67 rating.
- Excessive or Prolonged Submersion — any Submersion beyond Temporary Immersion, including immersion deeper than 1 metre, immersion for longer than 30 minutes, or entering water at a speed or in a manner that forces water past the rear Dust Seal. Water Ingress arising from Excessive or Prolonged Submersion is not covered.
- IP67 — the ingress-protection rating (IEC 60529) of the projector units, denoting they are dust-tight (6) and protected against Temporary Immersion (7). The IP67 rating describes the sealed projector units' ability to keep functioning after Temporary Immersion — it applies to the projector units themselves, not to the outer headlight housing or casing, which is not IP-rated. IP67 does not certify the Product against Excessive or Prolonged Submersion, and does not mean the housing is watertight.
- Dust Seal — the rubber seal or boot at the rear of the Product that keeps out dust and splashes. It is not a pressure-rated submersion seal.
- Condensation — a light, even internal mist on the inside of the lens caused by temperature and humidity change, which typically clears once the Product is run. Condensation is normal, is not Water Ingress, and is not a Defect.
- Normal Wear — the ordinary deterioration of the Product through use over time, including scratches, stone chips, marking, fading, or lens wear.
- Modification — any alteration, repair, disassembly, tampering, or change to the Product made after the Date of Purchase by any person other than CCI, including changes to its wiring, sealing, or components.
- Unauthorised Reseller — any seller other than CCI (via copycatind.com) that is not expressly authorised in writing by CCI to resell the Product. Products bought from an Unauthorised Reseller are not covered.
- Original Packaging — the complete packaging in which the Product was supplied, undamaged and including all inserts, fittings, and accessories.
- Unused — a Product that has not been powered on, fitted, wired, or otherwise put into service, and shows no sign of installation or use.
- Uninstalled — a Product that has never been mounted, wired, or fitted to a vehicle.
- Custom-Built / Made-to-Order — a Product manufactured or assembled to order after purchase. Such Products may not be returnable except where required by the Australian Consumer Law.
- Transit Damage — Physical Damage to the Product occurring in transit between CCI (or its carrier) and you, reported within 7 days of the Date of Delivery with photographic evidence.
- ADR — the Australian Design Rules, the national standards for vehicle safety. The Products are not ADR approved.
- Off-Road, Show, and Competition Use — use of the Product otherwise than on a vehicle operated on a public road, being the only use for which the Products are sold.
- Aftermarket — not manufactured or approved by the vehicle's original manufacturer.
- Australian Consumer Law (ACL) — the consumer guarantees and protections in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), which apply in addition to this Warranty and are not excluded by it.
Interpretation
In this policy: headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation; the singular includes the plural and vice versa; and a reference to a person includes a business or other entity. Where a term defined above is used in this policy, it carries its defined meaning whether or not it is capitalised. Lists of what is not covered, and of examples of Damage, are illustrative and not exhaustive — a matter may be excluded even if it is not specifically listed, provided it falls outside a Manufacturing Defect. Where the words "including", "such as", or "for example" introduce a list, that list does not limit what comes before it. If any part of this policy is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law; where this policy conflicts with the ACL, the ACL prevails to the extent of the conflict.
Warranty Period
Your warranty runs for 12 months and begins on the date your order is delivered. This coverage applies to every CCI product — headlights, taillights, and bundles.
Eligibility
Warranty cover is conditional on professional installation. A claim can only be accepted if:
- The product was installed by a licensed auto electrician, and
- Proof of licensed installation is supplied with the claim.
Please keep your installer's invoice or documentation alongside your proof of purchase.
Proof of Purchase
Your order confirmation email is your proof of purchase — keep it on file. If you can't locate it, we can look your order up using your name or the email address used at checkout.
What Is Covered
The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, specifically:
- Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship
- LED failure or significant loss of brightness
- Faults in the wiring harness supplied in the kit
- DRL, indicator, or sequential-function failure
If any of these occur within the Warranty Period, our standard remedy under this warranty is a refund. This does not affect your ACL rights, including your right to a replacement for a major failure.
What Is Not Covered
The warranty does not cover:
- Physical damage from accidents or impacts
- Damage caused by incorrect installation
- Water ingress caused by excessive or prolonged submersion (see below)
- Normal wear, scratches, or stone chips to lenses
- Any modifications made to the product after purchase
- Products purchased from unauthorised resellers
- Products not installed by a licensed auto electrician
Water Ingress & Submersion
The projector units are IP67 rated, meaning they are protected against temporary immersion (up to 1 metre deep for up to 30 minutes) and are built for splashes, driving rain, and short, shallow water crossings. Importantly, the IP67 rating applies to the projector units' ability to keep functioning — not to the outer headlight housing or casing. The housing itself is not IP67 sealed. The rubber dust seal at the rear of the light keeps out dust and splashes — it is not a pressure-rated submersion seal.
Water ingress caused by excessive or prolonged submersion — where water is forced past the rear dust seal — is considered outside normal use and is not covered by this warranty.
Light internal fogging or condensation after temperature changes is normal, is not the same as water ingress, and usually clears once the lights are run. If you're unsure whether what you're seeing is condensation or genuine ingress, contact us and we'll help you work it out. Full detail is on our Submersion & Water Ingress page.
Your Rights Under the Australian Consumer Law
This warranty sits on top of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and does not replace it. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. The remedy you are entitled to depends on whether the failure is major or minor:
- Major failure — where the Product is unsafe, would not have been bought had the fault been known, is significantly different from its description, or cannot easily be fixed within a reasonable time — you choose whether to receive a refund or a replacement, or to keep the Product and be compensated for the drop in value.
- Minor failure — one that can be fixed — we may choose to repair, replace, or refund the Product within a reasonable time.
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by a failure of the consumer guarantees. Our voluntary warranty offers a refund as the standard remedy; where your entitlement under the ACL is different (for example, your right to choose a replacement for a major failure), the ACL applies.
How to Make a Claim
Email copycatsindustries1@gmail.com with:
- Your order number (or the name/email used at purchase)
- A description of the fault
- A photo or short video showing the issue
- Proof of licensed installation
We assess every claim personally and, where a claim is approved, will issue a refund within your 12-month warranty period — our standard remedy under this warranty. This does not limit your ACL rights, including a replacement for a major failure. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
Damaged on Arrival
If your order arrives damaged in transit, email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the damage. We will issue a refund. Transit damage is always covered.
Returns
We accept returns on unused, uninstalled products in their original packaging within 7 days of delivery. Because our products are custom-built to order, some made-to-order items may not be returnable — please contact us before returning anything to confirm eligibility. Email copycatsindustries1@gmail.com to start a return.
Important — Off-Road, Show & Competition Use Only
All CCI headlights and taillights are RGB aftermarket products and are not ADR (Australian Design Rules) approved for on-road use. Every product we sell — including Patrol, Landcruiser, and 5×7 RGB headlights — is sold for off-road, show, and competition use only.
It is your responsibility to check local road regulations before fitting any aftermarket lighting to a vehicle used on public roads. Fitting a non-ADR-approved product to an on-road vehicle is done at your own risk and may affect your warranty and your legal compliance. If you have questions about a specific application, contact us before purchasing.
